Well the Fat lady has sung and It’s over ! Our annual presences at the PPS has come to an end according to all the media notices and chatter with attendees of the show.
The story we got a while back was that Amazon was going to buy or lease the IX Center to build a data center. Then there was another story that some manufacturing company was going to buy it to build batteries. But that also fell through. So in talking with so many people it seems no one has an accurate answer to what they are going to use that great facility for.
This last show kept all of us busy talking with folks and making lists of all the motors people have that they either want it to go to a good home, get it running again, or want to know what it’s worth to sell it ? We will be posting these motors along with the info about who has them and how to get in touch with them.
A huge thanks goes out to all those that brought motors to display and even three boat motor combinations. The list of members that attended were ~ Chuck & Howie Thomas, Bob Joynt, Paul Wood, Bill Mohat, Dave Weidner Doug Bics, Mark Menary, Jeff & Christin Brewster, Gil & Matt Seivers and Peg and I. We Also had help from Ryan Durda and his friend Luke along with my son Greg & wife Joanna whom all helped with the tear down Sunday night. Without these dedicated members we would never be able to keep our Chapter alive , so thank all of you that made this last Piston Power Show a success.
All three days were busy with crowds bigger than previous years ? Our goal in attending these types of shows is to hopefully recruit new members, sadly we only signed up one new member, Tom Burns ! Bill Mohat & I have known Tom for several years having bought a couple motors from him when he was selling off his father’s estate.
This brings me to another topic and question:
I had a presidents meeting with several of our other chapters presidents and the National sites President, Eric Truntz, Vice President Fred Truntz and first vice President Jim Purcell.
Sadly of the 39 Chapters in the club there were only 5 of us from various chapters present !
The goal of that meeting was to try and find new ways to interest people in our club. When I, along with 6 other members started this Chapter we had over 3000 members internationally, currently we are down to a little over 1800 ! So the request is to ask all of you if you have any ideas or suggestions that I can pass along to the EC. If you do I would ask that you write them down and send them to me in a text or Email. I will then send them to Jim or Eric to review. We do not want our club to go slowly into the Sunset, so please consider this request as a way to save our CLUB ! Thanks and remember:
